I started this painting and had to take a long break from it. I had a vision and each time I approached the painting, it wasn’t coming together the way I saw it in my head. Sometimes it makes for a do over but in this case I used the base layer to accentuate the flowers and build them with multiple layers of colors. The variety of colors within the flower allow each petal to stand out. Using a deep turquoise paint creates dramatic contrast as well. The distressed background and color palette make it feel vintage to me.
