Commission | Joyful

This painting will give any space positive vibes. Layers of paint and repeated mark making allow the use of bright vivid colors to pop. The abstract landscape creates a magical wonderland for your eye to explore. I was commissioned to create this painting for a room makeover. My client recently redecorated one of their bedrooms for their daughter with special needs. She now lives in a residential group home and returns to her family home one night per week. Her parents planned to surprise her when she came home and wanted a painting for the finishing touch.

Mom sent pictures of the room colors. I had a vision to start the painting but once I saw the colors of the bedding, the magic came together quickly. This family is incredible. They are the type of people whom build your spirits to the most confident place. They see the greater good in each person they meet and edify them with the kindest words. I wanted to create a painting to lift anyone’s spirit, providing the same feeling their family represents. When their daughter looks at the painting, I want her to feel happy. She doesn’t speak with words but definitely has feelings. Our special needs community are so important and this project was near and dear to my heart. This painting is a complete reflection of this beautiful family. I’ve watched their daughter grow up and it was such an honor to create this piece for her. Once it was complete, the only word I could speak was Joyful. It made me feel completely Joyful, just as I felt watching their family raise this beautiful human.
