Easy breezy summer days. To create this piece I used images for color inspiration but let the paint brush guide me. Beach Side is based on layers and mark making. Bold colors lay beneath the final surface. If you look closely you can see those colors emerge. The layering process creates depth to the painting. After creating the bold base layer, I flipped the canvas. A specific swatch of red ends up in the skyline. Look closely and you’ll see the wild, base layer peeking through.
